When it comes to travel for most people, planning is essential. I generally start to plan a trip several months out. The general view is to start planning six months before your trip so that you can do your research and book flights, hotels, and tours ahead of time.
Here are important reminders on how to plan for your dream trip!
The first thing that I do is research my destination. I generally have a list of places that I would like to visit and I narrow it down based on travel deals and time of year.
The second most important thing to do is check the dates on your passport six months before you travel. Remember if your passport is within six months of expiring, you have to get it renewed. And you need plenty of time to send it off and get it back.
It's great to get a head start on your travel itinerary so that you can create a budget. You can generally find a great package a few months before you take off. Airfare is typically lower three to six months before you plan your departure date. And hotel rates are better when you book weeks ahead of check-in.
Create your budget for travel but also plan for the unexpected. I had an accident in Paris one year that required a trip to the emergency room. They do not take travel insurance but they do require payment before you leave. So have a credit card or extra funds handy in the event that you need it.
Also, depending on where you travel, there may be vaccine requirements therefore be sure to check governement sites for those destinations so that you can meet requirements for entry.
Planning ahead for your dream trip or getaway will most certainly make traveling a little easier.
