Is Clear Worth It?

If you're thinking about enrolling in Clear, there are some things that you should know before signing up for your next trip.

So what exactly is Clear? A Clear membership uses biometric data to determine who you are by scanning your eyes and fingerprints. Most of us are familiar with the traditional way of determing identification by using a drivers license or passport

Unlike TSA Precheck and Global Entry, government programs that offer several years of membership for just a single fee, Clear requires a yearly renewal of $189. Unless you travel a lot through larger more international airports, you may not be inclined to take on this expense.

But, if you absolutely want the convience of getting through the security lines faster, you should get it. It is only available to U.S. citizens over the age of 18 as long as you have valid government issued identification.

Clear offers the best remedy for quickly moving through security on any given day. In fact, you get to skip ahead and I love it! A Clear employee escorts you to a TSA agent to move through the checkpoint for screening without taking off shoes or taking your laptop out of your bag while the line for TSA Precheck practically pauses when you walk up.

And here's a travel tip to save money, some credit cards or elite status loyalty programs offer Clear and TSA Precheck complimentary. Clear will also offer discounts especially when it is time to renew.

If you want to make life at the airport easier getting Clear may be the answer for you even if you have TSA Precheck and Global Entry.
